Most movie buffs have already caught Wes Anderson’s latest sci-fi extravaganza, Asteroid City. But in case you haven’t, the setting is 1955 in a fictional American town in the Southwest. Not unlike the spaghetti Westerns that were shot in Italy, this movie was made in Spain, in the farming town of Chinchón, a few hours drive from Madrid. In the specially constructed set, astronomers and space cadets navigated gas stations, ferris wheels, and convenience stores against a glorious red desert backdrop. This exhibition, hosted in the museum’s North gallery, features original props, miniatures, costumes, and artwork from the movie—all pieces of Anderson’s creative process. —Elena Clavarino
