The contemporary art center Ruby City, an imposing structure designed by the award-winning architect, Sir David Adjaye OBE, has opened in San Antonio. Housing more than 900 works—the collection of the late philanthropist Linda Pace—Ruby City brings us the inaugural exhibition “Waking Dream.” Works from artists Do Ho Suh, Leonardo Drew, Teresita Fernández, Wangechi Mutu, and Cornelia Parker are featured, along with the art of prodigal locals. The themes? Vulnerability, resilience, the creative self, and a notion of home. —E.C.
