Vincent Caruso: Shadows

A photograph from the series “Shadows.”

July 22 – Nov 28, 2023
214 Broad St. Milford, PA 18337

Presented by Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg, the artistic duo known as the Hilton Brothers, “Shadows,” a captivating collection of works by the up-and-coming photographer Vincent Caruso, is on view for the summer at the historic Forest Hall. Shot in black and white, primarily in the streets of New York, many of Caruso’s images embody motion—a bike racing by; the blur of a commuter in Grand Central Station. Other images capture the exact opposite. A man pauses in a crosswalk, pointing with amusement at the camera. Rays of sunlight cast uneven patterns through scaffolding on an empty sidewalk. In each image, shadows are used inventively, whether they’re cast by the spokes of a wheel, a spiral handrail, or the photographer’s own body. —Paulina Prosnitz
