Urs Fischer is a contemporary Swiss artist who challenges how his audiences conceive of space. His latest work, Untitled, is a life-size replica of Giambologna’s Abduction of the Sabine Woman molded entirely of wax. The wicks were first lit on May 22, 2021, when The Pinault Collection at the Bourse de Commerce opened, and they will continue burning until January 16, 2022. Viewers’ experience of the sculpture changes by the minute as chance and entropy slowly consume the painstaking work. Placed in the center of the Bourse’s rotunda, flooded with natural light and encircled by a 360-degree mural painted in the 19th century (when the Bourse still operated as the French stock exchange), Untitled is a monument to metamorphosis and the passage of time. —Sonya Ribner
