Ever wish you could watch a music video in 3-D? With the actual band members right there in real life? Wish no further. Instead, go to the Las Vegas Sphere, where U2 is holding court through December 16. Their stint there began with the Sphere’s grand opening, on September 29. This Epcot-esque structure in the heart of the city is unlike any other venue from our time: essentially, the entire building is a screen. From the outside, it can be a starry night, a globe, an eyeball, rippling water, paisley patterns, or anything else you can imagine lighting up the Las Vegas skyline. From the inside, the visuals are even more dazzling. While U2 performs, you can watch what looks like the dome cracking open. You get to witness Matrix-meets-Rubik’s-cube designs engulfing the audience, and the northern lights floating over your favorite band. In just one concert, you get to see them play in several different locations around the world. Talk about bang for your buck. U2’s residency at the Sphere has been a smashing success, receiving overwhelming praise. —Henry McGrath
