If you’re willing to revisit the first wave of the pandemic, when the science was uncertain and world leaders were blithe—not least Boris Johnson—This England is worth watching. Kenneth Branagh stars as the P.M. and Ophelia Lovibond plays his wife, Carrie. Filmmaker Michael Winterbottom takes viewers back to a time when only 67 people had died from the coronavirus and the boozy parties had not yet started at 10 Downing Street. The six-part series cuts off before Johnson’s downfall, a point that has raised eyebrows, but as Winterbottom told Variety last August, “There are limitations in ending it there, but I still think that was the best idea.” —Clara Molot
