The Venice Film Festival is back! This year’s edition—the 82nd—promises drama on the Lido, with guests including everyone from Jacob Elordi to Francis Ford Coppola, the latter there to honor the German director Werner Herzog with the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award. The list of not-to-miss films is longer than ever, but our favorites include: Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grazia, starring Toni Servillo and Anna Ferzetti in a love story about which no details have been released; Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein with Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth, and Elordi; Noah Baumbach’s long-awaited Jay Kelly with George Clooney and Adam Sandler; Jim Jarmusch’s family drama Father Mother Sister Brother, starring Cate Blanchett; and Yorgos Lanthimos’s Bugonia with his go-to actress, Emma Stone, opposite Jesse Plemons.
