The Tempest, one of William Shakespeare’s last plays, is not exactly family-friendly. The tragicomedy takes place on a small island where Prospero, the former Duke of Milan, lives in exile with his daughter (Miranda), his servant (Ariel), and his slave (Caliban). Prospero has knowledge of sorcery, which he learned from books, and summons a storm to strand a passing ship that carries some noblemen, a king, their sons, and others from the court—among them are those who betrayed Prospero. With everyone now on the island, he begins to achieve his goals. Theater director Jennifer Tang has reimagined the show for a younger audience, and it takes place outdoors, in Regent’s Park, hopefully without storms. —Jensen Davis
