Sendb00ks describes itself as “an online platform and registered cultural association.” If you go to the site and click on the special edition of Marguerite Duras’s The Lover, there’s a Louise Bourgeois quote—“The spiral is an attempt at controlling the chaos”—and images by the French artist Marie Hazard, all containing spirals. This is typical of a Sendb00ks edition. The platform organizes special reprints by iconic authors, pairing them with art and aphorism. Started by the model Gemma James in 2017, Sendb00ks has since expanded and now features readings from Mexico City to Paris. In May, Sendb00ks celebrates its printing of The Lover with a reading at Left Bank Books, a charming used bookstore in the West Village. —Sophie Kemp
