While Art Basel Miami and Frieze in Los Angeles dominate headlines annually, The European Fine Arts Fair is an old-school antidote to the increasingly contemporary offerings. Since 1988, the fair has consolidated over 7,000 years of art history under one roof. This year, 276 dealers and gallerists from 24 countries arrive in Maastricht, Netherlands, a city rich with medieval history. TEFAF specializes in antiques and Old Master paintings, but the fair does stretch to include the now—from jewelry to photography and design. In addition, the fair programs talks from tenured collectors and art market professionals. As one of the last remaining traditional European art fairs, its offerings are both grand and timely. —Maggie Turner
