The Cure

August 23, 2019
Parc de Saint-Cloud, Avenue de la Grille d'Honneur, 92210 Saint-Cloud, France

An unclassifiable British band (neo-Goth? post-punk?) whose debut album came out the same month Margaret Thatcher was elected prime minister and whose last new collection was released over 10 years ago, the Cure, led by the ever-touseled singer-songwriter Robert Smith, still fills every house to the trembling rafters with epic, unpredictable live performances that rise to the stuff of legend. Recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Cure will cap its summer tour with what’s being touted as a “monumental concert” at the Rock en Seine Festival in Paris (August 23), then presumably collapse in a heap for a well-deserved nap. —J.W.
