The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road

Terry O’Neill, Elton John, 1974.

Feb 9–23, 2024
20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020, United States

Style-wise, Sir Elton John is known for extravagance. His flamboyant capes, gold jackets, and iron-on denim patches shaped the 1970s and 80s. In 1992, John bought a condominium on Atlanta’s Peachtree Road, where he spent time until last year. Now he’s moved back to Windsor, and some of the rarities from his home in the South are up for auction. The sale comprises a little bit of everything, from his exuberant leopard Daytona Rolex to his legendary Captain Fantastic suit. There’s also the photographs he began collecting in the 1990s. They’re by masters who include Helmut Newton, Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Andy Warhol, and Peter Beard. —Elena Clavarino
