The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn dates to 1838 and covers 458 acres (for scale, Central Park covers 843). Inspired by the beautiful and naturalistic Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Green-Wood rolls and dips, full of American history as well as architectural and pastoral interest. It’s full of music, too. Andrew Ousley’s Death of Classical, in partnership with the Green-Wood Cemetery, presents the third season of the series The Angel’s Share. It consists of seven inventive programs that take place safely on the grounds of Green-Wood or in its fabulous Catacombs—a spectral space built beneath a hillside. The first four programs span the summer and there are three left. June 25 offers a “pocket version” of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto that features the glorious Gil Shaham with five players from the ensemble The Knights. On July 8 and 9, ”America/Beautiful with Min Kwon” celebrates the diversity of the country with 70 commissioned variations on the classic song. And on August 4 to 7, “Freedom and Faith with PUBLIQuartet” contemplates the music of six extraordinary women. Those in the know snap up these tickets, so don’t procrastinate. —L.J.
