The rehabilitation of neglected female composers continues apace. Founded in Philadelphia in 2019 by Evan Few (violin), Elena Kauffman (viola da gamba), and John Walthausen (keyboards), the period ensemble Filament celebrates the scintillating Parisienne Anne Louise Brillon de Jouy (1744–1824), closely associated with that noted Philadelphian Benjamin Franklin during his decade in Paris as America’s first foreign ambassador and diplomat. The program includes the music of Franz Joseph Haydn, titan of his age, as well as selections dedicated to Brillon by her contemporaries Luigi Boccherini and Johann Schobert. —Matthew Gurewitsch
