Tamina Amadyar: The Big Dipper

Sept 21, 2019 – May 25, 2020

If you’re lucky enough to be wandering the Palma de Mallorca cliffs in autumn, there is also room for some culture. Filling both the picturesque Oratori de Sant Feliu—a 13th-century Gothic chapel—and its nearby gallery space, is the Afghani artist Tamina Amadyar’s first solo show on the island. Amadyar paints from nature and from memory, using but two colors per canvas, “because nothing else is necessary,” she explains. A full-size paper boat placed in the center of the gallery suggests that this series is a kind of voyage. —E.C.
