Summer Solstice 2020: Live from Stonehenge

“For once the stones will be totally peaceful, and nobody has to get up at 3am and get very cold.” That’s Tim Laurence, the chairman of the English Heritage Society and husband of Princess Anne, putting a positive spin on the news that the 4,500-year-old Stonehenge monument will not be open to visitors on this year’s summer solstice. (In the past, the event has attracted crowds of more than 20,000 people.) Instead, on June 21, the perfect alignment of the stones with the dawn’s first rays will be captured via Livestream. —J.V.
