Props, posters, photographs, costumes, film clips, reconstructions, original scenography, and miniatures used in sets—all kinds of supporting material are arranged here to celebrate the movies of Steven Spielberg, “genius of the 7th art.” One film in particular inspired the young Spielberg—Cecil B. DeMille’s circus film The Greatest Show on Earth. Indeed, “greatest” shows are what Spielberg dedicated himself to making. This exhibition is a reminder of his enormous range and skillful storytelling. —Laura Jacobs
