Spring Hill Vineyards, planted in 2006 by Stephanie and Tim Ingrassia, is located on their historic farm in New Preston, Connecticut, where a stretch of well-drained soil near the Shepaug River constitutes a perfect micro-climate for grape growing. In 2017, with a place for wine tasting in mind, the couple began imaginatively repurposing a patch of woodlands. In the process, the Spring Hill Arts Gathering (SHAG) sprang up, a center that brings together art, actors, musicians, dancers, media moguls, and chefs. This summer, SHAG events include a solo from the Grammy-nominated violinist Robert McDuffie, a cabaret performance by Ariana DeBose, songs from the eclectic singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, and a talk with AIR MAIL’s founder and editor, Graydon Carter. The gathering runs seven days, and day passes are available. —E.C.
