Besides having designed some of the most inventive and deeply American fashions of the 20th century, Isaac Mizrahi is also a man of the stage. He’s designed costumes for plays, dance, and opera, has starred in cabaret and a one-man show Off Broadway, and has made guest appearances in a number of television shows, most recently in the Prime series Étoile. He also had a role in the Timothée Chalamet film Marty Supreme. And now in theaters is the 1995 documentary Unzipped, all about the creation of Mizrahi’s Fall 1994 collection. Isaac is an ebullient and witty raconteur. If you need a knockout quote on design, theater, art, culture, anything—he’s your man. And now he’s back at the Café Carlyle, Manhattan’s fabled supper club, with his acclaimed holiday music extravaganza, A Holiday Fruitcake. The six-piece band is led by Ben Waltzer. —Laura Jacobs
