The Morgan Library is now showing more than 300 drawings by Giambattista Tiepolo (1696–1770) and his eldest son Domenico (1727–1804). Highlighting their technique, style, and creative process, the exhibition explains the function of 18th-century working drawings. This is the first public presentation of the rare pen studies for Tiepolo’s greatest work—the 1752 ceiling fresco above the staircase in the Würzburg Residenz—as well as sketches newly associated with the 1754 ceiling fresco at the Venetian church of Santa Maria della Pietà. —Jeanne Malle
