Simply Brilliant: Artist-Jewelers of the 1960s and 1970s

Oct 22, 2021 – Feb 6, 2022
953 Eden Park Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45202, United States

We continually see exhibitions on fashion from the 1960s and 70s, designers who brought Pop and Mod and Futurism and Flower Power to their cutting tables. Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent, Rudi Gernreich, Mary Quant, André Courrèges, Halston, and Geoffrey Beene, to name a few. But these were also big decades for a new kind of jewelry, designed to pair with the clothes. And not just costume but fine jewelry too. Works of art, these pieces were inspired by the contemporary scene. Meanwhile, ethnic and historical influences expressed a widening global horizon. This exciting exhibition draws from one of the world’s most important collections and was assembled by Kimberly Klosterman. —L.J.
