We get so caught up in our own culture wars that we forget the subjects we’re discussing have been around for centuries, and have been addressed with far more nuance and vision than we see in our own discourse. When it comes to gender, for instance, the arts have always gone beyond the binary. In the Tateuchi Gallery at the Asian Art Museum, four next-generation curators explore the continuum of gender fluidity in Asian Art. —Laura Jacobs
