The Arts Intel Report

Sarah Lucas

Nov 2, 2019 – Feb 16, 2020
Hegezhuang Village, Cuigezhuang Township, Chaoyang District, Beijing

Sarah Lucas makes metaphors out of junk. Literally. Bananas are penises, melons are boobs, and a toilet or a pack of cigarettes can represent sexuality and manhood. For Lucas’s largest presentation in Asia, 100 of her works are showcased, including discarded objects ranging from the ridiculous to the absurd—furniture, food, tabloids, stockings—gathered from within the Beijing city area. —E.C.
