Sally Rooney in Conversation with Emma Dabiri

Streaming on Dice

Sally Rooney, the millennial novelist known for the best-sellers Conversations with Friends and Normal People, has been called the voice of a generation known for oversharing. Yet she herself is notably private. Beyond abstaining from social media, she shies away from too much publicity and too many public events. And she’s not changing her ways for her new novel, Beautiful World, Where Are You, out from Farrar, Straus and Giroux. It’s rumored that a talk with the academic and activist Emma Dabiri—hosted by the London Review of Books Bookshop and Southbank Centre—will be Rooney’s only big event for the book. You can catch her and Dabiri online discussing the new novel, which centers on the friendship between two literary young women. It starts in real-time with a live stream on September 7, and is up for one week after the event. —J.D.
