The sculptor Saad Qureshi has been thinking about the word paradise for much of his life. It is “a very personal place,” he says, for it comes in so many incarnations, some of them “radically different from mine.” In his first solo museum exhibition, Qureshi has filled the Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s contemplative Chapel space with various visions of paradise—from a cathedral on the moon, to toothpick temples clinging to a geological formation, to a strange flèche (like a Gothic stalagmite). Charmingly scaled, touched with transcendence, these are fantastical embodiments of Shangri-La. —L.J.
