Although the art of Pablo Picasso is never far from centerstage, this year’s republication of Life with Picasso, a 1964 memoir by his lover Françoise Gilot, puts the spotlight on the man. Meanwhile, the most significant exhibition of Picasso’s work ever to take place in China is now on view in Beijing. With over 100 works lent by the Musée National Picasso-Paris, the show’s focus is the first three decades of Picasso’s career. Works date to as early as 1893, when Picasso was 12 years old. —J.V.
