First performed in Germany, this musical entertainment dramatizes the real-life friendship (sometimes erotic) between chanteuse Edith Piaf and film star Marlene Dietrich, meanwhile providing the occasion for Canadian musical theater stars Louise Pitre and Jayne Lewis to belt out 20 beloved standards. One of Canada’s brightest playwriting talents, Erin Shields, has written the adaptation, so expect some feminist spark. —K.F.
