Satire and humor are fundamental elements in the work of painter Peter Williams, who uses historical references and allegories to comment on discrimination. This exhibition is focused around a fictional Black universe, where people of color escape oppression on Earth to find refuge as well as new horizons in outer space. (The fantasy is a metaphor, of course.) Williams’s art is vibrantly colorful, and the spindly, friendly looking characters are reminiscent of children’s books. —E.C.
