Birds endure as a source of inspiration, both light—the Bible’s white dove is a symbol of peace and new beginnings—and dark—Alfred Hitchcock tapped into something ominous in his 1963 horror classic, The Birds. The first North American exhibition on the work of Italian photographer Paolo Roversi focuses on the parallels between his fashion photography—images elevated by his singular style and informed by his collaboration with brands, especially Comme des Garçons and its founder, Rei Kawakubo—and the movement of birds. —J.V.
