Searching in the cellar for her skis, Silvia Di Paolo stumbled on a trunk that held 250,000 negatives, slides, and prints. It was only then that she learned her father, Paolo Di Paolo, had been a photographer for Il Mondo in the 1950s and 60s. His lens ranged from celebrity portraits (Pier Paolo Pasolini, Marcello Mastroianni, Anna Magnani, Sophia Loren), to casual city scenes and stark shots of the common man. This neglected treasure trove—Italian neorealism at its best—is on view for all to see. —L.J.
