Almost 100 years ago, in 1924, the Russian Art Exhibition opened its doors at New York’s Grand Central Palace. The show held 1000 pieces of Russian art, created over the first two decades of the 20th century. The exhibition then toured 20 cities in the U.S. and Canada. In New York alone, more than 90 works sold, bringing in more than $50,000. When the tour ended, the pieces scattered, many becoming part of museum collections around the world. Now, the Museum of Russian Impressionism has mounted an exhibition that looks back to 1924. More than 70 signature works are on view. —E.C.
