Open Space 2019

Sept 25, 2019 – Mar 1, 2020
Japan, 〒163-1404 Tokyo, Shinjuku City, Nishishinjuku, 3 Chome−20−2

“Through my planning and the dynamic relationships between these elements,” says Lee Ufan of his installations, “a scene is created in which opposition and acceptance are intertwined.” The spaces Ufan describes are also known as “open dimensions,” places where man, the manmade, and nature come together. Using materials that are unaltered, his sculptural works are site-specific. Mirror, rock, and stainless steel sit harmoniously yet incongruously in their surroundings. For his largest installation yet, Ufan presents a ten-sculpture series. —E.C.
