It came as a shock when the French government announced that the Louvre would be shutting its doors until further notice. But in compensation the museum is offering up some of its most coveted tours online. Take virtual walks around the Egyptian Antiquity selection on the ground and first floors, stroll through the renowned Galerie d’Apollon, and view the Louvre’s moat (constructed as early as 1190). There are also photographs and descriptions of some of the Louvre’s rooms, providing detailed historical accounts of the personages and members of its eccentric community. —E.C.
