Olafur Eliasson: In Our Time

Olafur Eliasson, Firefly Double-Polyhedron Sphere Experiment, 2020.

Sept 22, 2022 – Jan 22, 2023
Piazza degli Strozzi, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy

The conceptual artist Olafur Eliasson is concerned with sense experience. In 2003, for his installation in the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, The Weather Project, he created a burning sun that bathed the space in orange. In 2016, he brought waterfalls, fog, and mirrors to the Palace of Versailles, and erected a large-scale waterfall in its grand canal. Now he’s bringing his spatial interventions to Florence’s fabled Palazzo Strozzi. Hung between the building’s Piano Nobile and its interior courtyard, Eliasson has constructed a labyrinth that plays with color, light, and water. This is the artist’s largest show in Italy to date. —Elena Clavarino
