The Swiss artist Nicolas Party is known for portraits, landscapes, and still lifes that merge alien strangeness with childlike simplicity. “I definitely want to create a world that is inviting and a bit enchanted,” Party says. Recently, he switched from pastels on canvas to pastels and oil paint on copper. New oil-on-copper compositions, painted cabinets, signature pastel works, and two site-specific murals transform the first floor of Hauser & Wirth 22nd Street into an immersive Party world. —Elena Clavarino
