Nancy Grossman: My Body

Nancy Grossman, Gun Figure, 1974.

Apr 5 – May 27, 2022
100 11th Ave, New York, NY 10011, United States

Born in 1940 to parents who worked in New York City’s garment industry, the artist Nancy Grossman grew up in a world focused on the human form. Over the course of five decades, she has depicted that form in sculpture, collage, printmaking, and painting. Just as her medium has varied, so have her concerns. Grossman uses the body as a way to ask questions about agency and otherness. The exhibition “My Body” surveys Grossman’s commitment to figures, what they’re for and what they mean. —Clara Molot
