Nam June Paik’s art makes noise. Working with antiquity and technology, his pieces combine references to the Silk Road and Buddha with television screens, bright lights, and enigmatic patterns. The multimedia artist, born in South Korea in 1932, synthesizes painting, sculpture, performance, music, and electronics to envelop the viewer. “Art in Process,” the second part of Gagosian’s two-part exhibition on Paik, emphasizes his television-focused pieces, such as three of his satellite broadcasts. —Thalia Bonas
