Murder Among the Mormons

The filmmakers behind this true-crime docuseries may come from backgrounds in humor (Jared Hess directed Napoleon Dynamite, Tyler Measom the lighthearted documentary Jesus Town, USA), but both were raised in the Mormon community and well remember the booby-trap bombings that rocked Salt Lake City in 1985. Setting humor aside, this three-parter recounts the “craziest story you never heard,” says executive producer Joe Berlinger (who directed the Paradise Lost trilogy), speaking of the master Mormon-document forger Mark Hofmann and the deadly lengths he went to to protect himself. —J.V.
