This virtual benefit is both a celebration of the dancers’ return to the studio after last winter’s lockdown and a tribute to Bettie de Jong, who has been with the Paul Taylor Dance Company for six decades, first as a superb dancer and Taylor’s muse from 1962 to 1984, then as an exacting rehearsal director and company conscience. Excerpts from Taylor’s dances will be shown, including a selection from A Field of Grass, filmed in Manhattan’s East River Park. There’s a 30-minute pre-show, a “chat roulette” room where Taylor fans can globally connect in conversation, a gallery of instagram videos, and much more. There’s even a special Taylor cocktail that will be taught to viewers by a top mixologist from the Union Square Café. “Modern is Now” is free, but donations are certainly accepted. —L.J.
