Lynda Benglis

Mar 22, 2020 – Jan 24, 2021
Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC 20565, USA

“My work is an expression of space,” the pioneering artist Lynda Benglis has said. “What is the experience of moving? Is it pictorial? Is it an object? Is it a feeling? It all comes from my body.” Most famous for her sculptures, Benglis works in wax, bronze, aluminum, marble, latex, ceramics, and glass. The flutings of ancient columns, the hexagons of the honeycomb, windblown pleats, and wingless torsos, all can be fleetingly glimpsed in her work. This exhibition presents 33 pieces by Benglis—sculptures, paintings, drawings, prints, and videos from the Gallery’s collection. —E.C.
