Leslie Hewiitt has updated the still life genre. The New York and Houston-based artist is interested in the intersection of photography and sculpture, and how the collision of two traditionally distinct mediums affects concepts of time and space. Taking inspiration from Dan Flavin’s light sculptures, Hewitt has set her photographs of sunrises in a deep frame, but over to the left; on the right she’s placed an abstract image of a spectrum. The experience for viewers is three-dimensional and ever-changing. —Clara Molot
