Leonardo da Vinci was working in France when he died five centuries ago, which is why the Louvre possess almost a third of his known paintings—five of them. To commemorate the fifth centenary of his death, the museum is bringing Leonardo’s other paintings to Paris (well, as many as possible), where they will be supplemented by 22 drawings, plus up-to-the-minute scholarship and laboratory analyses of the master’s precious paintings. —C.J.F.
