In Jamie Barton, this rare revival boasts a heroine ideally suited to the heroine’s sumptuous music, with a pair of eloquent partners—the tenor Lawrence Brownless and the baritone Jacques Imbrailo—to complete the triangle. The performances are sung in the original French, which may add an exotic perfume to the tenor’s air, known in Italian as “Spirto gentil.” —M.G.
