The work of KAWS, aka Brian Donnelly, can’t be pigeonholed. With pop iconography and figures in cartoonish masks he addresses social concerns, but in a playful, embracing way. “I’m sure by now you’ve figured out,” he once said, “that I do my work for everybody to see. That’s the whole point.” Starting out in the world of graffiti—a form, by definition, that is meant for “everybody to see”—he expanded into the fields of art, fashion, and design. This exhibition traces his oeuvre in all its facets, showcasing pop-art collaborations and a recent monumental sculpture. —E.C.
