One Nation Under a Groove, sang Funkadelic, yet we remain two nations (at least) poised differentially over a grave. Faith in music’s transformative power endures, though, and when justice is pursued by the likes of Dumpstaphunk, Galactic, The Funky Knuckles, Everyone Orchestra, Phil Lesh, Christian McBride, Antibalas, and the all-star Bandemic, surely we must gain some ground. Proceeds benefit Plus 1 for Black Lives Fund, the Equal Justice Initiative, Impact Justice, the Bail Project, and other grass-roots groups. —E.E.
