Julian Montague: Form and Fray

June 17 – July 11, 2021
108 Perry Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10014, United States

Form and Fray. Well on some level we all know what that means. The garment was pure form when we bought it, but now it’s fraying. That’s life. For Julian Montague, it’s also process and practice. Pristine vision gives way to everyday wear, tear, and time to let it go. Montague—an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer—has created art from worn-out clothing, sheets, tableclothes, and fabric scraps. His work is abstract, quintessentially modern, and fresh as a daisy. —L.J.
