What does music look like? Can it be captured in other mediums? Jason Moran attempts to answer these questions in the exhibition “Bathing the Room with Blues.” With paper and pigment—primarily blue pigment, in homage to Blues music—Moran has tracked the movement of his hands over a piano’s keyboard. The result? Works on paper that suggest moody EKGs and apparitions. Moran’s art evokes the turbulence, energy, and soul of jazz. —Nicole Matthias
