Jadé Fadojutimi: Yet, Another Pathetic Fallacy

Nov 30, 2021 – Apr 17, 2022
61 NE 41st St, Miami, FL 33137, United States

The 28-year-old British painter Jadé Fadojutimi says she only works when she feels excited. Her massive, colorful oil paintings are a three-part process. “I have one-hit, two-hit, three-hit paintings,” she says, “and each ‘hit’ is a layer that takes a day.” Fadojutimi, the youngest painter to have work in the Tate’s permanent collection, overlays grids with webs, mixing long sensuous lines with short, quick strokes. These canvases are part of her first solo museum show. —J.D.
