Interwoven: A Homo Faber Capsule

The making of Artisan by Ferri Garcès.

Oct 22 – Nov 23, 2025
Av. Eduardo Dato, 58, 41018 Sevilla, Spain, Spain

Which came first: craft or art? Neanderthals, we now know, etched abstract lines into the walls of caves. What story did they tell, or information impart? In its inaugural capsule exhibition, Homo Faber explores the art of craftsmanship and its recurring artistic techniques under the theme “Interwoven.” From over 800 submissions, 35 works have been chosen to represent craft traditions that have lasted for epochs. Highlights include a folded paper work by Ferri Garcès that evokes the swirling dance patterns of Turkish whirling dervishes, and Martha Pachon Rodriguez’s Microworlds, a series of porcelain “botanical tangles” that blend artistic styles from multiple cultures and reflect on the universe. —Maggie Turner
