Venice’s Fondazione Giorgio Cini is located on San Giorgio Maggiore, a small islet just opposite the entrance to the Canal Grande. There isn’t much on this patch of land, just an old spired church, some greenery, and the foundation’s complex, which looks across the lagoon to St. Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace. The space—43,000 square feet—is rarely open to the public in its entirety. For four weeks, however, beginning on September 1, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini will open all its spaces for the third edition of the biannual Homo Faber, a major showcase of contemporary artisans. Rising stars and established designers, 400 strong and from over 70 countries, will show their work across 10 exhibitions. The show is themed “Journey of Life,” and the art direction is led by Luca Guadagnino and Nicolò Rosmarini. —Elena Clavarino
